- to share our ideas about this activity (on the forum);
- to ask questions and vote.

A lot of people like shopping, especially women. For some of them shopping is a favourite pass time and pleasure. For others, buying daily needs is a boring routine or a waste of time.
Listen to records to know about different shopping habits.

Assignment 5.2.
Shopping can be both a “must” and a pleasure. Those who hate shopping place their orders by telephone and it saves them a lot of time. Some make a hobby of shopping tours, whether they actually buy any things or are just window-gazing.
I’m wondering if you like shopping, how often you do it and who you prefer to do it with.

Why don't we have short debates on the English Forum?

There are some steps:

1. Visit the forum and leave there two messages;
2. In your first message you should share ideas about your shopping preferences;
3. It is up to you to decide what to write about. The prompts below are provided to help you to create your first message. It is not necessary to answer all the questions from the list.
Is shopping a “must” or a pleasure for you? Do you think shopping is type of a leisure activity? How often do you go shopping? Do you prefer doing shopping at a small local shop, a big supermarket or a market? Do you draw a shopping list? Why? Do you find that shop assistants are, in general, polite and helpful? Who do you like going shopping with (parents, friends, alone)? When you buy something, what is most important to you: price, quality, fashion trend? Do you sometimes buy things that you don't need? Do your parents give you pocket money? What is the most expensive thing you've ever bought?
4. In your second message you should agree or disagree with one of the forum mates and ask him (her) only one question. It would be great if you used the following expressions: I agree .., I don’t agree .., because.., As for me .., I believe that …, To tell the truth, I … , etc.
5. Try to ask interesting questions to forum mates. Types of Questions )
6. Look through the theme on the forum and answer questions which were asked by other participants.

Be enthusiastic and don’t forget to be polite and friendly!

Practice 5.3.
Now, I offer you to take part in votes. We will use the results of voting at our next English class.

There are three votes which are required to complete before our next meeting at school.

Vote 1. Do you like shopping?
It is an easy question to answer, isn't it? Your answers will show us if teenagers like shopping.

Vote 2. When you can choose where to shop what do you prefer: the supermarket, the market, a local shop?
In practice, where you shop will depend on where you live, how much time you have and what shops are available. But what will suit you best will depend on what kind of person you are too.

Vote 3. Who do you like to do shopping with?
When I was a teenager I used to go shopping with my girlfriends. We laughed and had a lot of fun. I liked to go to shops with my father as he usually bought me something pleasant and tasty. And what about you? What are your preferences?
